Keynote speaker Yuko Hasegawa, Japan\u2019s foremost contemporary art curator, will expound on her vision for integrating environmental awareness and ecology into exhibitions and innovative public programming. Joining Hasegawa in this forum will be a panel discussion featuring luminary speakers including architect Shohei Shigematsu (Director of OMA NYC) and landscape architect Doroth\u00e9e Imbert (Director of the Knowlton School of Architecture, The Ohio State University). Since 2020, the Living Traditions series has revealed the historic trajectories of Japanese culture. These single-topic virtual discussions have covered multiple disciplines and featured thought-provoking conversations between experts and cultural stewards on how they maintain deep-rooted traditions in the present day. Shigematsu leads OMA\u2019s diverse portfolio in the Americas and Japan. He is responsible for delivering a number of projects across North America, including Milstein Hall for the Cornell University College of Architecture, Art and Planning; a new building for the Mus\u00e9e national des beaux-arts du Qu\u00e9bec; the Faena Forum in Miami Beach; Sotheby\u2019s headquarters in New York; the Audrey Irmas Pavilion for the Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles; and a holistic campus renovation and new building for the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, New York.<\/p>\n<p>His expansion to the New Museum in New York City is currently under construction. Imbert has published extensively on landscape modernism, contemporary practice, and productive landscapes. She authored the books <em>Between Garden and City: Jean Canneel-Claes and Landscape Modernism<\/em>&nbsp;(2009),&nbsp;<em>Garrett Eckbo: Modern Landscapes for Living<\/em>&nbsp;(with Marc Treib, 2005),&nbsp;<em>The Modernist Garden in France<\/em>&nbsp;(1993), and was the editor of <em>A Landscape Inventory: Michel Desvigne Paysagiste<\/em>&nbsp;(2018) and <em>Food and the City: Histories of Culture and Cultivation<\/em>&nbsp;(2015). More recently, Imbert\u2019s research has focused on the politics of landscape. Imbert has served on numerous boards and juries, including Dumbarton Oaks and the Society of Architectural Historians, and, more recently, was the jury chair of the inaugural Cornelia Hahn Oberlander International Landscape Architectural Prize. Imbert continues to engage in research and design practice including The Square (with Andrew Cruse), a landscape on structure for the Novartis campus in Basel, Switzerland.
